Do you need to stock up on tipped arrows, enchanted bows, and crossbows in Minecraft? To keep your bow and arrow supply high, you'll need access to fletchers for trades. An easy way to turn any unemployed villager into a fletcher is to craft a Fletching Table and place it near the villager, who will turn into a fletcher once interacting with it. This wikiHow guide will teach you how to craft a Fletching Table from simple materials, and how to use the Fletching Table to transform ordinary villagers into useful fletchers.

Section 1 of 3:

What is a Fletching Table in Minecraft?

Download Article

  1. 1

A Fletching Table is a job site block that turns unemployed villagers into fletchers. Fletching tables occur naturally inside of fletcher houses, but you can also craft them to encourage more villagers to become fletchers.

    • The Fletching Table looks like a tan block with a bow and arrow on one side, and a target on the other.
    • Fletching Tables are available in all current versions of Minecraft beginning with 1.14 (Java Edition) and 1.11.0 (Pocket Edition & Windows 10). You won't find Fletching Tables on Xbox 360, PS3, or WiiU.
  2. 2

Create a Fletching Table if you want more fletchers to trade with. By making your own Fletching Table with a few basic materials, you can get better trades, as fletchers are some of the best villagers to trade with—you can trade for emeralds, bows, crossbows, enchanted crossbows, and tipped arrows.[1]

    • Fletching Tables can also be used as furnace fuel—they can smelt one and a half items per block.
    • You can also place Fletching Tables under note blocks to make bass sounds.

Gather your materials. The recipe for a Fletching Table requires only a few basic materials:

    • 4 wooden planks of any type, including oak, dark oak, spruce, birth, jungle, acacia, crimson, and warped planks.
    • 2 flints, which you can acquire by mining gravel.[2]
  2. 2

Open your crafting table. You can open the crafting table by standing in front of it and right-clicking or tapping it. If you're playing on a console:

    • PS4: Press L2.
    • Xbox One: Press LT.
    • Nintendo Switch or Wii U: Press ZL.
  3. 3

Place 2 flints in the top-left two slots. Leave the third slot on the top row blank.

  4. 4

Place 2 planks into the first two slots on the second line. These can be two planks of any type.[3] Leave the third slot on the second row blank.

  5. 5

Place 2 more planks into the first two slots on the third row. This recipe produces a Fletching Table, which you can now drag down into your inventory.

Turn Villagers into Fletchers

  1. 1

Place the Fletching Table in a cramped area. If you need a quick way to produce more fletchers in a village, you can coerce jobless villagers into interacting with a Fletching Table by placing the table in a villager's home or anywhere near the villager.

  2. 2

Seal off the area once a villager is near the Fletching Table. If the villager doesn't interact with the table on their own, you can block off any exits to speed along the process.

    • By preventing the villager from exiting the area with the Fletching Table, they'll have no choice but to interact with it.
    • Once a villager interacts with the table, you'll see green stars around their head, and they'll suddenly be wearing a brown hat.
  3. 3

Level up the fletcher by buying and selling. When the fletcher is a novice, you can only trade for emeralds, arrows, and flints. By continuing to trade with one fletcher, you'll eventually turn them into a Master Fletcher who can get you tipped arrows. Here are all of the trades you can do with a fletcher at different levels:

    • Novice
      • 32 sticks for 1 emerald.
      • 1 emerald for 16 arrows.
      • 1 emerald and 10 gravel for 10 flints.
    • Apprentice
      • 26 flints for 1 emerald.
      • 2 emeralds for 1 bow.
    • Journeyman
      • 14 strings for 1 emerald.
      • 3 emeralds for 1 crossbow.
    • Expert
      • 24 feathers for 1 emerald.
      • 7 to 21 emeralds for 1 enchanted bow.
    • Master
      • 8 tripwire hooks for 1 emerald.
      • 8 to 22 emeralds for 1 enchanted crossbow.
      • 2 emeralds and 5 arrows for 5 tipped arrows.

How to Craft & Use a Fletching Table in Minecraft (2024)

      FAQs

How do you use the Fletching Table in Minecraft? ›

Fletching tables can also be used as fuel in a furnace, smelting 1.5 items per block, and under note blocks to produce the “bass” sound. For the time being, that's all – though they might gain additional functionality in the future.

How to use smithing table in Minecraft? ›

To access the UI, right-click the smithing table. Place the diamond tool or armor to be upgraded in the left slot and the netherite ingot in the right. As you can see, the helmet retains its enchantments and transforms into a netherite helmet.

What do you use for fletching? ›

Another viable option, of course, are feathers — like the ones from Trueflight. They're super light, and if you're looking for more spin from your arrow in flight, or still shoot without a release aid, it's tough to go wrong with the original arrow fletching.

What item makes a villager a fletcher? ›

If a village has a fletching table that has not been claimed by a villager, any villager who hasn't already picked a job site block has a chance to change their profession to fletcher.

Can you make a baby villager? ›

Make sure that villagers receive 14 food points – a bread delivers 4 points and similarly, potatoes, carrots, beetroots come with 1 point each. 5. After that, leave two villagers in a building and come back in the next 20 minutes – a baby villager would appear, and grant a bed to him/her as well.

How to evolve a villager? ›

Villagers will level up as you trade with them. Every villager begins at Novice level, followed by Apprentice, Journeyman, Expert, and Master. Each level unlocks more trade options you can take advantage of.

Can you upgrade diamond armor to netherite? ›

Alongside armor trims, we're also making changes to netherite upgrading. To upgrade your diamond tools and armor to Netherite variants, you will now need a Smithing Template called “Netherite Upgrade”, which can only be found in Bastion Remnant chests.

Where do I find netherite? ›

To get Netherite you'll need to mine Ancient Debris first, which can only be found in the Nether. When you enter the Nether you'll need to mine until you reach Y level 8-15. Most Ancient Debris will spawn at Y level 15. Once you get at the Y level, begin mining as you would normally.

How to get netherite armor? ›

Unlike other armor sets, Netherite armor can't be crafted. Instead, you must upgrade a set of Diamond armor with Netherite Ingots at a Smithing Table to get this powerful and elusive armor set. While it is a little bit of a process to get Netherite armor, you'll get it in no time with a little perseverance.

How to give a villager a job? ›

How do you assign jobs to villagers in Minecraft? Just place the corresponding job block next to them. It will take a while for them to react to it, and they may choose other job blocks around them. I once had this pesky villager that insisted he be a butcher, instead of a cartographer like I wanted.

How do you not get lost in Minecraft? ›

By writing down the XYZ coordinates for every point of interest you visit, such as your home or a cool place you found, you can never get lost. Coordinates can also be used to find a friend you're playing with and have lost sight of, or to navigate out of a dungeon deep beneath the ground.

What is the point of fletching? ›

Fletching on an arrow shaft stabilizes the shaft during flight by causing it to spin as it leaves the bow, just as a quarterback puts a spiral spin on the football as he passes. Spinning keeps the arrow on its flight path and preserves speed, accuracy, and, ultimately, impact power.
